Foreign Language Placement Testing at WVU

Here’s a quick outline of how it works:
  1. You take the Placement Test on line (20-25 minutes)
    (See the Entry Link and password below)
  2. You copy or save the results page of the test
    (We can look them up if needed)
  3. You enroll in the class and show your results to your instructor, who verifies your placement1
  4. You take the class and get a “B” or better
  5. You fill out this form: Free Credit by Placement
  6. Wait 3-4 weeks and get free credit for the courses you place out of !!!

1IMPORTANT: Make an honest effort. If you make a ZERO or other abnormally low score, you may be required to do a personal placement interview or to take the test again. Our test is scaled to place you comfortably in your best range for success. If you have questions or feel your placement is inappropriate, ask us in Chitwood 205 or contact the coordinator of your basic language program. We will work with you to insure your best chance to succeed and to enjoy learning a foreign language.

Now you can start:

  1. Your WVU password is “mountaineers1”.
  2. Be sure to use your WVU student ID: 700xxxxxx.
  3. Be sure to PRINT your results or SAVE them to a file for enrollment in the proper course.
